Google created a full set of blob-like emoji for Android and Hangouts, but so far you haven’t actually been able to use them in your emails on the Web.
That changes today with the most recent update to Gmail. Now you can use all the same emoji you’re already used to on Hangouts, which are a step up from the old tiny squarish ones.
Gmail is also introducing hundreds of new high resolution themes. Moreover, you can now edit the themes yourself, including adding blurs and vignettes or changing between light and dark themes.
Google says the update will roll out to everyone over the next few days.
