GitHub is introducing a new structure for paid plans. Starting today, you can create unlimited Personal repositories for $7 per month, while Organization accounts will cost $9 monthly per user.
The first five Organization account users will cost a flat fee of $25 per month. Github’s free plan for individuals that allows them to create public repositories will still be free.
GitHub tells The Next Web that customers have been requesting the feature for quite some time, and that it felt there was some friction between creating public and private repos due to the limitations on how many you could create.
It also helps keep repos centralized. Rather that tuck files away in the cloud as a cold storage solution, indie devs can keep all of their work on GitHub.
If you’re already paying for private repos, GitHub will be migrating your account to the new plan over the next few days. GitHub will also be prorating accounts that may be paying more than $7 per month.
