HBO finally released the trailer for the next season of Game of Thrones. Season 7 immediately made a splash online as people teased apart the various portents.

So far, we can see Danaerys Targaryan making her long-awaited return to Westeros, Jon Snow’s army gearing up for wintry warfare, and Cersei Lannister in King’s Landing looking as chiseled as always.

The series’ visual effects look better than ever. In particular, Dany’s now-adult dragons look dizzyingly large and dinosaur-esque.

This trailer — and this season overall — takes the series into uncharted waters. Now that the show’s diverged from George RR Martin’s book canon, there’s no longer a cheat sheet for literate readers to use to spoil Season 7’s major plot points. No doubt spoilers are going to be treated even more seriously by the internet than they usually are.
