Fujifilm has just announced the X-Pro1 at CES. It’s a beautiful, timeless-looking mirrorless camera, that features a 16 megapixel X-Trans CMOS sensor. It’s expected to retail at a hefty $1700 for the body and $650 for the lenses.
The camera features a completely new color filter array that paves the way for an ideal sensor, and removes the need for low-pass filters usually found in medium format cameras.
If you’re a novice to this sort of technology, all you have to know is that this is an MILC. Traditionally, compact digital cameras always feature a fixed lens, but MILC cameras like the X-Pro1 take the best features from DSLRs and merge them with the convenience of compact digitals.
The X-Pro1 will come with Fujifilm’s Hybrid Multi Viewfinder (first introduced in the X100), which allows for both a digital and optical viewfinder. The camera is also capable of recording 1080P video and has a 3 inch LCD monitor.
For enthusiasts and pros that happen to be sitting on a pile of cash, this is the perfect camera for you. But for the rest of us, we might be better off waiting for the price to drop down. In the end, your tools are very important, but are never as big of a deal as the photographer taking the picture.
Check out the first look video below, take a peak at the hands-on preview and look over the brochure for more info.
