Free coffee?? What’s not to love about TrialReach?

logo_big“No study to date has used NIRS to assess cerebral blood flow following treatment with either caffeine, l-theanine (tea) or a combination of both.

A randomised, double-blind, placebo controlled, balanced crossover design study will assess the effects of 75mg caffeine, 50mg l-theanine and a 75mg caffeine / 50mg l-theanine combination in 24 healthy adults.

Cognitive and mood assessments will take place at baseline and at 30 minutes following treatment.”

TrialReach is a new search engine for clinical trials. So, in the name of science, I searched for “caffeine,” and lo and behold, discovered a clinical trial that is recruiting subjects and, get this, all you have to do is drink coffee! Apparently they want to study the effect of caffeine on cognition and mood. Where do I sign up? Actually it’s in the U.K., not here in the U.S. :-(

Of course this is a real search engine for serious maladies. If you or a loved one are looking for possibly helpful clinical trials, you may find one here in an easily searchable format. They list three main advantages over similar search engines:

• Most websites include only a selection of studies. We don’t. We include every clinical trial that is duly authorised and regulated by health authorities.

• Most websites give you information about studies that is, well, difficult to understand (unless you’re a doctor!). We don’t. We take the trouble to edit the original trial information until we get something that is clear, accurate, and objective.

• Most websites require that you register your contact details before you access the information. We don’t. At TrialReach, you can search, browse, and access information for more than 70,000 clinical trials without entering any personal information – and it’s 100% free.

If you want to show this site to someone you know, just Click Here for their referral form.

Are you a chocoholic? CEO Pablo writes in:

Charles,

If you liked free coffee, how about free chocolate?!

Yes, there are a few studies where you are actually required to eat chocolate – example: http://www.trialreach.com/study/1700

I’m afraid it’s in Switzerland – but it still may be worth the trip :)

Cheers,
Pablo
