Flowdock launches API to expand its online collaboration platform

Flowdock launches API to expand its online collaboration platform

Online collaboration tools like Campfire, Convofy and Yammer are flourishing as increasing numbers of people work remotely from each other. Flowdock is a service designed to allow technical teams to work together, and today it’s launched an API to further extend its capabilities.

Flowdock features group chat, activity feeds and an inbox which allows team members to comment on the ongoing status of each incoming message – ideal for things like dealing with customer feedback, project management and technical teams. The company which began in Helsinki, Finland but is relocating to San Francisco as it looks to make an impact in the US, says that its user base is growing steadily at 40% per month.

The first version of the Flowdock API is based on the work the company did making custom integrations of its platform for partners such as Atlassian, Zendesk and Pivotal Tracker. This generic API will allow third-party services to feed their own information into Flowdock’s shared team inbox.

Flowdock operates in a highly competitive space, but the new API should help the company expand its reach to users of competing and complementary services. Additional features will be added to the API over time. You can find out more here.
