SONY DSCFlipboard is continually inking deals with publishers to expand the content in its social reader service, and today it landed a comparatively big fish after announcing a deal with Time Inc., the company behind the Time and Fortune magazines.

Time Inc says that, with 68 million readers across the desktop, smartphones and tablets, it is the largest single publisher to join Flipboard but — statistics aside — the deal means content from People and InStyle is available immediately to Flipboard users, with Time and Fortune coming in December.

Fran Hauser, President of Digital at Time Inc Style & Entertainment Group, says Flipboard will “showcase our content and photography so beautifully and make it more discoverable” — obviously she doesn’t subscribe to the opinion that Flipboard is a “scam” on publishers.
