Flickr Enables Video for All Users, adds HD Quality and Introduces Flickr Clock

flickr-logoYahoo have just announced a number of new features to Flickr with particular focus on their video sharing tools.

  • Firstly, anyone can now upload video to Flickr however non-pro users can upload only two videos per month.
  • Flickr now catches up with Google’s YouTube by offering HD quality viewing and uploading, however only Pro members can upload.
  • Yahoo introduces a truly innovative new feature called Flickr clock which aims to showcase various video clips taken at particular times throughout the day. I’m unsure as to which videos are selected to appear on the Flickr clock and exactly what time zone the clock is set to – but there’s no denying it’s a pretty fascinating visualisation.

Here’s a demo of the HD quality video with Flickr General Manager Kakul Srivastava on his way to work.
