Facebook’s Hernandez: Timeline opening to more users “In the next couple of weeks”

At LeWeb last week, I caught up with Facebook’s Director of Business Development and Partnerships for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Christian Hernandez, for an update on the current state of the Facebook platform in Europe and around the world.

In our conversation, Hernandez gave an update on how the new features that were announced at this year’s f8 conference are progressing, including Timeline (currently available in New Zealand), which he says will be available in more countries “in the next couple of weeks” – listen from the 5 minute mark for that part.

Facebook’s own blog post on the matter said “We’ll begin by making it available to people in New Zealand and then roll it out more broadly in the near future,” so if Hernandez is speaking accurately (and bearing in mind that this was recorded on 8 December), we should be seeing more countries getting Facebook Timeline access very soon.

He also discussed the kinds of apps he’d like to see developers get their teeth into using Facebook’s platform.
