Facebook updates mobile layout to automatically highlight most-liked photos

Facebook updates mobile layout to automatically highlight most-liked photos

Facebook has started rolling out an update to the layout of its iOS and Android apps to display your most popular photos more prominently. Now when looking through photos of someone, their most-liked photos will show up larger than the rest.

You’ll also be seeing a new Uploads tab that sorts all of your uploaded photos chronologically instead of forcing you to scavenge among albums for that one special photo – something you’ll appreciate if you’ve tended to organize your albums by type as well as date. Album thumbnails are now larger as well.

The change calls back to when Facebook used to let you highlight photos within your albums on a desktop browser to display them more prominently, except now, it’s done automatically. It’s not a stretch to imagine this change eventually coming to the current desktop interface as well, but it makes special sense for mobile users given the limited real estate.

There’s no need to check your respective app store for updates, the changes should roll out through the app’s back-end automatically.
