Facebook ‘Mentions’ iOS update brings better filtering, landscape video and reply options

Facebook ‘Mentions’ iOS update brings better filtering, landscape video and reply options

Facebook announced today that it was cleaning up some of the minor (read: thoroughly unusable) annoyances for those using its Mentions app.

The ‘Live for Mentions’ feature, now allows you to record video in landscape or portrait mode. The orientation, however, is really only a preference thing as the video still takes on a square format no matter which way you hold your phone.

Filtering saw an improvement in this update as well. One of my biggest annoyances with the mentions app was the complete lack of filtering options. Today, this got a major overhaul.

Now, you can filter posts within your mentions feed by topic or source. Instead of scrolling through your timeline like a pleb, Mentions users now have the ability to sort for specific news outlets, like The Next Web, or topics, like ‘Making a Murderer.’

Another annoyance about using the Mentions app was that you previously had to switch apps to reply to messages sent to your page or profile from within the Mentions app. Now, you can reply as god intended, from the super inclusive ecosystem of your Mentions messages.

Mentions is available in the App Store to any celebrity or public figure with a verified account.
