Facebook’s stock will be added to the S&P 100 and S&P 500 indices at the end of the day on December 20, as noted by the BBC. The firm will replace The Williams Companies in the S&P 100 and Teradyne in the S&P 500.
The move had been expected for some time, especially as Facebook’s growth caused it to pass up several other S&P members in terms of market value.
Other tech giants that are part of the S&P 100, which acts as a subset of the larger 500-member index, include: Apple, Google, Microsoft, eBay, Intel, HP, Cisco, Qualcomm and Amazon.
