Facebook invites Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to next Townhall Q&A

Facebook’s next Townhall Q&A will have a special guest: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mark Zuckerberg announced the Q&A via a blog post on his own profile. The CEO says he and the Prime Minister will discuss “how communities can work together to address social and economic challenges.”

Facebook started its public Townhall Q&A program last November. The company first asks its community to drop questions on Facebook, after which Zuckerberg adresses them on a live stream a couple of weeks later.

In this case, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the questions turn to, a non-profit developed by Facebook to help internet access to less developed regions by making technology more affordable, creating a more efficient Web and promoting internet-led business models.

The organization has a strong presence in India, but has been criticized for restricting users so they can only access websites of Facebook’s choosing. On the other hand, the organization has also helped create technology to expand internet coverage, such as a giant internet-beaming drone.

If you’re interested in tuning in, the Q&A session will take place on September 27 at 9:30 AM PST/10PM IST. Make sure to head on over to Zuckerberg’s profile to drop in any potential questions you have for the CEO or Prime Minister.
