BlackBerry has announced that it has updated the core Facebook for BlackBerry 10 app to version 10.2.0 which brings new photo upload, viewing and sorting features to the platform for the first time.
The app, which was last updated in March, now offers users the ability to create a new photo album or upload photos directly to a specific album on Facebook.
It also now allows tagging of people in photos on Facebook for the first time as well as a way of toggling between all the photos you’ve uploaded to Facebook and all the photos you appear in on Facebook. By default, Albums view now only shows photos that you have uploaded to the service.
In addition to the minor photo updates, BlackBerry said it had also reworked the design of the news feed “to make navigating the app for BlackBerry 10 all that more fun”, the company said in a blog post announcing the update.
While any new features will likely be welcomed by BlackBerry users, most if not all of the features introduced in this update have been present on every other Facebook app on other major mobile operating systems for quite some time now.
The company said Facebook for BlackBerry 10 version 10.2.0 is available to download now globally from BlackBerry World on handsets running version 10.1 of the BlackBerry operating system.
