Facebook users in the UK can now choose from more than 70 different gender types following an expansion of the extended options outside of the US.
The move is being made to “better reflect society”, according to The Independent, and in addition to being able to select a gender beyond simply male or female, users can also now specify which pronoun they’d like used when referring to them on the platform. For example, “Wish him a happy birthday!”, “Wish her a happy birthday!” or “Wish them a happy birthday!”
To tinker with these settings, go to your About page, select ‘Edit’ next to Gender, and then select ‘Custom’.
