Facebook has said it will not roll out a scheduled update to its privacy policy till next week, after it takes the time to “ensure that user comments are reviewed and taken into consideration to determine whether further updates are necessary”, the LA Times reports.
The policy update was proposed late last month, with the new language saying that users will automatically grant Facebook permission for the use of their names, profile pictures and content in connection with ads or commercial content.
Facebook’s delay comes as six consumer watchdog groups have asked the US Federal Trade Commission to block these changes, saying that they will make it easier for the social network to use such personal information to endorse products in ads without their consent.
