The “Life Events” feature on Facebook’s Timeline are a great way to let all of your friends know about an exciting event in your life. Whether you’ve changed jobs or got engaged, Facebook highlights these things on your Timeline beautifully.
Today, Facebook has announced a new Life Event called “expecting a baby.” It’s exactly what you think it would be:
When you’re ready to shock all of your friends with the news, you can simply add this new Life Event from your Timeline:
Once you do, everyone will be surprised as it shows up in the top right of their News Feed and passes through their stream:
This should be rolling out for everyone soon, so if you’re expecting, get your typing fingers ready.
This evolution of Facebook into more of a place for family and close friends is something we’ve noticed over the past year, but I’m not ready to enter a guess as to who at Facebook might be expecting a new family member.
