Tony Stark and his Iron Man alter-ego is arguably the most successful and well-loved Marvel superhero to hit the silver screen in recent years.
After the smash hit summer blockbuster that was The Avengers, it came as no surprise that Robert Downey Jr. would be reprising his role for a third instalment in the Iron Man franchise.
After something of a tease during the 2013 Super Bowl, as well as a pretty low quality trailer that hit Yahoo earlier today, Marvel has finally delivered and released a full-blown trailer for Iron Man 3 on YouTube.
So that’s just under three minutes of full HD Iron Man goodness. Watch it for yourself below:
The new trailer, which has been released specifically for UK audiences, shows that of course not everything is rosy in Tony Stark’s life at the moment (there wouldn’t need to be a film if it was).
The billionaire playboy, industrialist and ingenious engineer is having trouble sleeping, until a new villain known as the Mandarin decides to destroy his home and steal everything precious to him.
Iron Patriot, played by Don Cheadle, also makes an appearance sporting some American decals not too dissimilar to Captain America. Of far more interest, however, is what appears to be a whole crew of other Iron Man suits fighting alongside Stark in the trailer’s penultimate scene.
Yahoo has suggested that Stark can now control his suits using only his mind. This is referenced when the suit assembles around him during the attack on his house, as well as his new ability “to command his suit to form onto someone else.”
That’s certainly a new parlour trick for Iron Man, building on the suitcase from Iron Man 2 and the super cool revolving arcs/assembly pad setup used on top of Stark Tower in The Avengers.
You can watch the original trailer that Yahoo posted for US viewers below:
