Evos raises $9M to bring autonomous operators to industrial businesses

Evos builds AI that actually does the work for small and mid-sized businesses in physical industries. The company passed $1M in ARR just four weeks after going live.

Evolutionary Operating System, Inc. (Evos), the company building autonomous operators for the physical economy, came out of stealth, announcing $9M in pre-seed funding.

Uncork Capital and Field Ventures co-led the round. Crosslink Capital, Utopia Capital Management, Sandwith Ventures, and angel investors also participated.

Evos operators learn a job from a company’s most experienced people and then do the work themselves. They work inside the systems the business already uses.

The funding will go toward growing the team and bringing operators to the businesses that make, move and power the economy. Those are the businesses that software has been slowest to reach: small and mid-sized companies in physical industries.

The know-how that walks out the door

Small and mid-sized businesses are most of the physical economy. 99.3% of US motor carriers run fewer than 100 trucks. And 93% of US manufacturers have fewer than 100 employees.

Each runs its own way, and its most valuable asset isn’t on the balance sheet. It’s the judgment of its best people, built over decades and rarely written down.

Those people are retiring faster than anyone can replace them. When they leave, the know-how walks out the door with them.

“The most capable system in many of these businesses is the person who has been there 20 years, and what they know has never been written down,” said Urav Shah, founder and CEO of Evos. “An Evos operator learns the job from these people, improves on it, and proves it can match them before it takes on any work by itself. Our goal is to put that expertise on every job, every day, so these businesses can run like the best in the world do.”

How Evos operators work

Evos is the Agentic Operations Platform for the businesses the tech industry hasn’t focused on. Companies use it to build autonomous operators that think, decide and act the way their best people do.

These operators learn an organization’s processes and work inside the systems a business already uses. They carry out the work on their behalf.

Evos operators learn from behavior, not text: the decisions a team makes and the patterns behind them. An operator only takes on a function fully autonomously once its decisions consistently match its team’s.

The Platform is fully self-serve. Work that would take a consultant or an implementation partner 9 to 18 months to deliver, an Evos operator takes on in 24 hours from discovery to deployment.

Evos calls this the Trifecta. It means one hour with a company’s experts, a working operator the next day and measurable results within a month.

And the business decides how far to take it. That ranges from a person signing off on every step to the operator running entirely on its own.

A function, not a prompt

Most AI tools need constant prompting: someone has to ask, review and act on every answer. An Evos operator is given a function, not a prompt, so the team manages outcomes instead of inputs.

One freight brokerage runs an Evos operator auditing every LTL carrier invoice against its TMS. In its first two months, it has made nearly 3,500 audit decisions at 97% accuracy.

In the last five weeks alone it has closed out more than $600,000 of invoice value.

“Evos has helped us revolutionize our billing process with zero upfront investment, and also at an impressively fast speed measured in days and weeks,” said Mike Chalfant, president of MyFreightWorld. “It’s increased our accuracy and dramatically increased efficiency, which has ultimately led to a better experience for our customer base. The performance of the operator has given us confidence and excitement to continue to add to the functionality and explore new possibilities. Adding Evos to the stack has been a terrific thing for our Company, and we’re excited to continue to grow our partnership.”

The investors

“For decades, software sold to industrial businesses has helped people organize and track work, but it has stopped short of doing the work,” said Richard Kerby, partner at Field Ventures. “Evos changes that. Its autonomous operators learn the judgment behind how a business runs, work within existing systems, and take ownership of entire operational functions. The speed at which Urav and his team have turned that vision into measurable customer value is exceptional, and we believe Evos can become the operating layer for the physical economy.”

“Most software helps industrial businesses keep track of their work, but for the first time, Evos is helping them get it done,” said Tripp Jones, general partner at Uncork Capital. “What stood out to me immediately is how quickly teams are putting Evos’s autonomous operators to work on core parts of their business without a long technology roll out. That puts powerful technology within reach of businesses that software has long overlooked. Urav is one of the most impressive founders I’ve worked with, and we’re thrilled to back him.”

In the coming weeks Evos will formally launch its Platform: Workhorse, the workforce for physical industries.
