Update: Die ganze Sache steht noch auf etwas wackligen Beinen, unter anderem sorgen ein gephotoshoptes iPad-Produktfoto und kleinere Unstimmigkeiten innerhalb des Cult of Mac-Posts für Zweifel.
Cult of Mac meldete vor kurzem, dass E-Plus Apples exklusiver Partner für das iPad 3G in Deutschland werden wird. Das Besondere: der momentane iPhone-Exklusivpartner T-Mobile wird nur einen “affordable iPad 3G plan of its own” beim Start des iPads in Deutschland anbieten, so die Quellen von Cult of Mac. Auch Vodafone soll mit eigenen iPad-Datentariefen schon in den Startlöchern stehen.
Noch ist nicht klar, was “exklusiver Partner” in Bezug auf das iPad in Deutschland genau bedeutet, aber es wäre keine große Überraschung, wenn der deutsche Exklusivpartner auch vertragsfreie, monatlich zu bezahlende Datentarife anbieten wird. Warum aber ausgerechnet E-Plus die Exklusivpartnerschaft für das iPad mit 3G erhalten hat, ist laut Cult of Mac klar: “E-Plus is known as being one of the most flexible mobile providers, offering numerous differently priced contracts and pay-as-you-go options […]”
Vodafone und T-Mobile (der Name O2 ist bisher noch nicht gefallen) müssen sich also darauf beschränken, mit einem Datentarif gebündelte micro-SIM-Karten zu verkaufen, oder das iPad zu einem subventionierten Preis mit 2-Jahresvertrag an den Mann zu bringen.

Im Gegensatz dazu werden E-Plus-Datentarife, nach amerikanischen Vorbild, wahrscheinlich direkt auf dem Gerät auswählbar sein.
We speculate that this means that their plans are to use subsidized iPads to get new customers to sign contracts, where as E-Plus will be the provider the iPad 3G ships with and who will widely offer Apple endorsed month-by-month data plans.
