Egypt Government Launches ‘MobileAppsAcademy’ for Young Mobile Entrepreneurs

Mobiles and AppsThe mobile application development industry has been booming in the region that with the mobile web on the rise, and some countries are actually helping lead the way, introducing MobileAppsAcademy.

Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) the executive IT arm of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology partnering with Vodafone, one of Egypt’s leading mobile carrier networks have started a program called MobileAppsAcademy as a starting point for aspiring young Egyptians with an idea for a mobile application that is innovative, commercially viable and relevant to the Middle East market.

Applicants who have to be Egyptians 33 or less of age, will have access to facilities, training, advice and consulting and an opportunity to make some money from the project in partnership with the program. One of the program’s most important aspects is the networking and events exposure provided to the academy students also.

With the global mobile web and app industry becoming a multi billion dollar industry over the past 10 years, the region hasn’t seen any major breakthroughs in terms of application development in contrast with the increasing demand provided by the rapid growth of the smart phone market in recent years.

Programs such as these and others like AppsArabia in the Middle East and North Africa region will provide a solid infrastructure for developers and entrepreneurs to test their skills at solving existing and increasing problems facing the region, or simply to give mobile users a good time playing their favorite multiplayer game.

Another element of success in the program is the partnership between ITIDA and Vodafone, with the latter’s many success stories in developing highly penetrating and successful applications for it’s user base and beyond, academy members will hopefully be getting the right knowledge to improve and launch their apps to one of MENA’s largest mobile and online markets.

We hope to see more programs like MobileAppsAcademy stem in the region, and more importantly enjoy the results.
