eBay-owned Gumtree rebuilds its classifieds platform around mobile, launches new iPad app

The eBay-owned classified listings platform Gumtree has launched a new iPad app today in line with its redesigned, responsive desktop site as it revamps its mobile strategy to keep up with competitors.

The company said the new site was built on feedback from users and allows for easier viewing and navigation, and that it makes for easier cross-device usage.

On the iPad side of things, the new app allows users to post a new ad in just a few clicks – essential if it wants to drive usage – and filters for searching through ads based on the most recent additions or by price. It also allows for things like managing and promoting your ads while on-the-go and shows the number of views and comments your ad has received.

It might well be owned by the biggest auction site in the world, but with its mobile-focused update and strategy Gumtree wants to prove there’s still room in the world for a classified listings board.
