eBay has been working to integrate the acceptance of Bitcoin into its subsidiary Braintree, the Wall Street Journal reports, though eBay and PayPal won’t be accepting Bitcoin initially. The WSJ cites sources as saying that PayPal officials have met with Bitcoin companies including Coinbase in recent weeks, and they are still in the midst of reaching an agreement.
eBay acquired Braintree last September and introduced full PayPal support in its SDK just last month.
The move to introduce Bitcoin, even starting with Braintree first only, would be another boost to the cryptocurrency. Things have been looking up for Bitcoin recently, what with major retail sites including Newegg, Expedia and Dell recently starting to accept it.
