Dumbo on demand: Disney on Demand lands on LOVEFiLM

Dumbo on demand: Disney on Demand lands on LOVEFiLM

If you’re an Amazon LOVEFiLM member and you can’t get enough of ‘Ratatouille’ or ‘Lady and the Tramp’, you may be in luck as the online streaming service is now offering a range of Disney movies to watch on demand.

Announced on Monday, the arrival of ‘Disney Movies on Demand’ on LOVEFiLM Instant promises to bring a wealth of Disney’s own unique entertainment and a raft of classic titles directly to your computer or TV at no extra cost.

“Disney is renowned for creating world famous, quality family entertainment that parents can trust; from the earliest animations to modern classics. We are thrilled to enhance our relationship with the launch of Disney Movies on Demand, and even more excited about bringing our members so much new content in the process,” Simon Morris, chief marketing officer at LOVEFiLM, said.

Alongside classics like the champagne-swigging, flying elephant ‘Dumbo’ or ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’ you’ll also find more contemporary (and in some cases award-winning) offerings such as  ‘Wall-E’ and ‘Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian’.

Subscriptions for LOVEFiLM’s Instant service start from £4.99 for online viewing only.

The push to broaden its catalog, and therefore its appeal, comes as it attempts to take on Netflix’s streaming service in the UK.

In a move that echoes Netflix’s original programming of series like’ Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘Arrested Development: Season 4’, Amazon too has announced that five original series will be made for its Prime Instant Video service in the US. There’s no word on when these might make it across to the LOVEFiLM service that operates in the UK and Europe, though.
