Done deal: Microsoft’s acquisition of interactive design company Perceptive Pixel is finalized

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer delivered a ‘one more thing’ at the company’s Digital Worldwide Partner Conference, earlier this month, announcing that Microsoft had acquired interactive design company Perceptive Pixel (PPI).

The deal was subject to the usual formalities before being finalized and, well, it seems it has now been finalized. “I’m excited to share that all closing conditions for Microsoft’s acquisition of Perceptive Pixel (PPI) have been met, and the deal is completed,” wrote Giovanni Mezgec General Manager, Office Division, at Microsoft.

PPI founder, president, and CTO Jeff Han now joins Microsoft as a general manager and will report to Kurt DelBene, president, Office Division for Microsoft.

“The acquisition of PPI allows us to draw on our complementary strengths, and we’re excited to accelerate this market evolution,” said DelBene when this news was first announced in early July. “PPI’s large touch displays, when combined with hardware from our OEMs, will become powerful Windows 8-based PCs and open new possibilities for productivity and collaboration.”

Ballmer also added at the time that Microsoft will use its research, development and production of multi-touch technologies to further upcoming software and hardware, with the company showing off its huge 82-inch touch-enabled screen at the WPC event too.
