Prestigious fashion house Dolce & Gabbana is planning to stream live coverage of two of its major shows to be held in Italy later this week to mobile devices including the iPhone.
The D&G and Dolce & Gabbana Women’s Fall shows, to be held in Milan, will stream live to mobile devices in a move which according to the fashion house demonstrates that they have “always been a pioneer in the technological experimentations of the digital communications market.”
By focusing on apps for iPhone and Android devices , which together account for 82% of the US smartphone market and 70% of Europe, D&G believe that they will have the ability to connect with younger, tech-savvy consumers in an effort to build their international brand.
The world of haute couture is witnessing an escalation in major brands competing with high-tech. Today at 5pm CET , Burberry’s show will be broadcast in swanky locations around the globe from its London studio as part of London Fashion Week.
Fashion Wire Daily reports that the D&G show is scheduled for Thursday, February 25 at 3pm CET, while Dolce & Gabbana will be staged Sunday, February 28 at 1pm CET.
The free D&G app is available now in the iTunes Store.
