Yahoo is making its Mobile Developer Suite a bit more powerful. During a conference in New York today, Simon Khalaf, senior vice president of publisher products announced Tumblr in-app sharing.
It’s similar to the share button you’re used to seeing on webpages, except for mobile apps. Developers can integrate the tool into their apps, and then their users will be able to share content directly onto Tumblr.
Besides being convenient for the user, it’ll encourage some extra installs for the developers. Users who see a post shared via an app will be able to download the app that shared it if they don’t already have it on their own device.
Developers will also have access to engagement stats on the material users share. That includes information such as how often it’s been reblogged, clicked or liked.
Yahoo also introduced some other updates to Flurry’s mobile suite, including real-time metrics that are updated every 15 seconds. It’s also announcing native video ads for publishers, to help developers monetize their apps.
Earlier in the conference, Khalaf addressed the continued push towards using mobile apps instead of browsers. For more on the data he shared, check out our post here.
