Less than two hours after it was revealed that The Music of David Bowie show was coming to Carnegie Hall in New York this year, the iconic artist died on January 10.
The show immediately sold out, as did a second night in Radio City Music Hall, so the organizers will now live stream the concert on Skype on April 1 for fans around the world to enjoy.
The tragic coincidence spurred the shows creators to turn it into a celebration of Bowie’s life, with input from his friends and fans alike. After the tickets to both events sold out in minutes, the organizers decided they needed to open it up somehow for everyone who was requesting tickets to be able get involved.
In order to get access to the stream, you’ll need to make a small charitable donation. This can be any amount but the organizers are recommending $20 (£15) minimum, which is still a lot cheaper for anyone from outside New York than traveling to watch it in person. All of the money donated will go to various music and art charities in the US.
Some of the acts already confirmed to perform on the night are Blondie, The Flaming Lips, Mumford & Sons, Pixies, Michael Stipe, Jakob Dylan and more.
So, if you’ve got no plans for Friday night and fancy dedicating it to David Bowie, you can sign up over on the concert’s website to donate and get access to the link.
