Just days after the the company announced it was working with Starbucks to bring Angry Birds leaderboards and promotions into stores, Rovio has announced that it will bring its popular franchise to Formula 1, debuting a new crowd game that can be played by people attending the night race in Singapore.
Reuters reports that Rovio has partnered with Singapore Telecommunications, after working with Finnish startup Uplause Ltd, the creators of the world’s first live event gaming platform, to create a specially crafted game for the event.
“We think this new form of gaming will give fans a great opportunity to form a strong emotional connection with the characters,” Rovio’s marketing chief Peter Vesterbacka said in a statement.
Unlike the smartphone, desktop and tablet game, where users control a slighshot using touch gestures or a mouse, attendees at the Forumla 1 race will control the game using their voices.
After this weekend’s sporting event, Rovio hopes to bring the experience to sports stadiums and music concerts.
