Samsung has confirmed that it will reveal the Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Galaxy Note III smartphone in Berlin on September 4, prior to the IFA trade show and the same day Sony wants to launch to launch its ‘Honami’ handset.
The date has been rumored for some time, and the launch of Samsung’s next monstrous Android handset was all but confirmed when a press invite titled ‘Note the Date’ went out earlier this month.
During an interview with The Korea Times, Lee Young-hee, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Mobile Business, said both devices would be unveiled at the event, also known as ‘Unpacked 2013 Episode 2’.
“The (Galaxy) Gear won’t have a flexible display,” she said. “The new device will enhance and enrich the current smart mobile experience in many ways. It will lead a new trend in smart mobile communications. We are confident that the Gear will add meaningful momentum to the mobile industry.”
