Fans of the Angry Birds franchise that are eagerly awaiting the Facebook release of the massively popular game will have to wait a little longer than initial reports have suggested, with the game due to a full release in May, not March or April.
Confirmation game from Rovio’s Mighty Eagle Peter Vesterbacka who, in discussions with The Next Web, revealed that the company plans “to do the full release in May, not March” adding that he was “not sure how the March date got in there.”
Last week, Rovio took to its official Facebook page to announce that the game would be coming to the social network, keeping users updated on the games progress as long as they “Liked” the page.
The Facebook game is said to have “completely new aspects to it that just haven’t been experienced in any other platform,” according to Rovio CEO Mikael Hed. The Rovio chief also mentioned that the game would leverage Facebook’s ‘collaborative nature’, giving the pigs “a more prominent role”.
Rovio recently announced that its Mighty Eagle in-app purchase would be heading to other apps within the App Store and will soon release a St Patrick’s Day Seasons update for smartphone owners.
