Coinbase and eGifter come together to let you buy gift cards for over 100 brands using Bitcoin

Y Combinator graduate Coinbase has partnered with eGifter to enable customers to buy gift cards for more than 100 brands using Bitcoin, the fast-growing virtual currency.

Coinbase recently enabled buying and selling via SMS and dropped fees for first-time merchants, and this new partnership will let users convert their Bitcoins into gift cards for the likes of GameStop, Home Depot, CVS and many others.

More than just accepting Bitcoin, as other services have done, eGifter is integrating the Coinbase Wallet into its Web platform, and iOS and Android apps.

Coinbase’s Wallet is unique since it allows customers to tie their virtual currency account to a bank account, making it relatively easy to deposit and withdraw funds. The startup claims more than 200,000 active users and over 138,000 transactions per month.
