Independent developers (and even teams) often have trouble with code review, but a new Chrome plugin for use with GitHub can automate that process, and even grade your repos.
Called Code Climate, the plugin can be configured to scan your repos based on the issues you want it to look for. From there, it adds a subtle ‘score’ to each repo so you can quickly see which are clean — or where you may need to put some work in.
It can also scan pull requests. Code Climate won’t assign scores to Pull Requests, but it does alert you to potential issues (and copy/paste code). You can also extend alerts in-line to get a better idea of what the plugin is alerting you to.
Pull Requests get a pass/fail status when changes are required, and A-F grades when you’re viewing them in a tree view.
While it’s currently only available for Chrome, the team is working on Firefox and Safari support. It’s currently in beta, but you can sign up for early access via the Code Climate Website.
