Anthropic has renamed its two Claude Max plans and dropped the five-hour usage limit on the more expensive one. It now calls the $100-a-month Max 5x plan Max, and the $200 Max 20x plan Ultra. Prices stay the same, the company said on X on Friday.
Verified Ultra accounts no longer have a limit that resets every five hours. Most existing subscribers got the change on Friday. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until Anthropic verifies them, which it said helps prevent fraud and abuse. Those users will get an email when it is lifted. Weekly limits stay the same.

What each plan now includes
Anthropic’s pricing page now lists Max as five times Pro usage, every five hours and every week. It comes with $100 a month in API credits.
The page lists Ultra at ten times Pro usage every week, with no five-hour limit for verified accounts. It comes with $200 a month in API credits, up from $100 on Max. Both plans include Fable, Anthropic’s top model, for up to half of the weekly limit. In Europe the two plans cost €90 and €180 a month.
Earlier changes to Claude’s plans
The old Max 20x name pointed to 20 times Pro usage. The pricing page now lists ten times Pro usage a week for Ultra, and Anthropic’s post did not mention the change.
A lawsuit filed in June claimed Anthropic oversold the usage on both Max plans. In May, Anthropic doubled five-hour limits for Claude Code, citing new computing capacity from SpaceX. In April, it blocked OpenClaw and other third-party agent tools from using Claude subscriptions.
