David Fincher’s 2010 film, The Social Network, did a great job of capturing the early days of Facebook and giving us a glimpse into the life of college-going Mark Zuckerberg.
What it failed to show us was just how much of a startup bro young Zuck was back in the day. This interview from 2005 takes us through Facebook’s Palo Alto office, riddled with oddball graffiti, beer in kegs, beer in the fridge and a barefoot CEO talking about ‘an online directory for colleges.’
It’s a poignant look back at Facebook in its nascent stage that, in some ways, reminds me of a photo of Bill Gates’ from 1973, way before he knew he’d created one of the most important companies in the world.
