If you haven’t yet bought a game console, the original Xbox One is a great choice – even more so now that Microsoft is officially dropping its price to $249 for the 500GB version.
The price reduction comes ahead of the launch of the Xbox One S, which is a revamped variant of the console that’s 40 percent smaller, supports 4K video streams, as well as HDR for games and video, and comes with an updated Bluetooth wireless controller.
It’s worth noting that the Xbox One S will first launch with a 2TB model that’s priced at $399 at the beginning of August. The console will also be available with 1TB and 500GB hard drives for $349 and $299 respectively, but Microsoft hasn’t yet announced launch dates for those yet.
Plus, the $249 price for the original applies to any 500GB Xbox One console, which means you can get cool variants like the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition bundle and the Special Edition Quantum Break bundle with a white console body at no additional charge.
So, no, it isn’t easy to decide whether to hop on this deal or wait for the newer console. But you’ll have to make up your mind quickly, as Microsoft notes that its offer is only good while supplies last. With the One S and another new console codenamed ‘Scorpio’ on the way, it’s possible that the original won’t be manufactured for much longer.
