Microsoft wants to make sure you play Minecraft on pretty much every single platform, and now it’s bringing its $2.5 billion purchase to the Oculus Rift.
The company first announced it would be building a Rift version last fall, and it arrived on the Oculus-powered Gear VR in April. In fact, Microsoft says some of the new features in this Rift version are pulled from the Gear VR’s.
Some of the new options include MSAA for proper anti-aliasing support in, and new render distance settings to take advantage of the powerful graphics card you’re using for VR gaming.
There are also some new control options to help you better navigate the world while wearing a VR headset. You can use the Rift to do things like peer over edges and look around intuitively while navigating the blocky world.

There’s alsoa ‘virtual living room’ mode if you just want to kick back and play the game on a 2D screen inside of the your VR headset. You could just remove the headset, but VR does allow you to imitate playing on a larger screen.
If you do choose to go back to boring old non-immersive Minecraft, Microsoft says it’s keeping many VR settings separate from the standard version, so you don’t have to switch everything back if you decide to remove the headset from your head for a while.
