You can now easily buy Xbox 360 games right from your Xbox One

You can now easily buy Xbox 360 games right from your Xbox One

Backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 titles was one of Microsoft’s biggest updates for the Xbox One announced at E3 of last year, but it came with a caveat: you couldn’t actually buy the games from the Xbox One itself.

But earlier this month, Microsoft started to sell 360 titles to Xbox One preview members right from the console, and now the feature is rolling out to anyone with the console.

It’s a small but notable update; previously, unless you’d already purchased the game for your Xbox 360, you would have to go to the Xbox Store website on your PC, purchase a title, and then wait for it to show up in your Xbox’s ‘Ready to Install’ menu.

Now you can simply buy the games from your console, which should also help introduce new gamers to several classics from the older system. There’s even a backward-compatible category and all.

  • Your achievements will now show up in activity feeds
  • You can now view full inline videos from your activity feeds
  • Customize Game DVR clip lengths; was previously just 30 seconds, can now be anywhere from 15 seconds to 5 minutes

There are also a couple of updates that weren’t in the preview too, including an improved analog stick algorithm that will make Xbox Elite Controllers more precise, and more details about your controller – like battery status and firmware version – in the Xbox Accessory app.

The update is rolling out to all Xbox one users today.
