Camera Plus Pro announces iPhone photography contest to celebrate upgrade

Camera Plus Pro announces iPhone photography contest to celebrate upgrade

Today Camera Plus Pro, developed by Global Delight, released its biggest upgrade to date and are launching an iPhone photography contest called Metamorphosis to celebrate.

Camera Plus Pro is an incredibly robust camera app, complete with a great user interface and variety of tools that make taking, editing and sharing photos with your iOS device a treat. Capturing photos and videos with Camera Plus Pro can range from basic pointing and shooting to a full-fledged iPhone photography studio. Camera Plus Pro can be as simple as you want it to be or as powerful as you need it to be. There’s good reason why it was touted as one of the top paid photography apps by iTunes Rewind 2010 and hailed as ‘best of the bunch’ by The New York Times.

And it just got better with today’s upgrade.

The upgrade features an additional 21 filters, including Coffee, Pop, Retro Green, Washed, Scarlet, Rust along with 15 others that make taking photos with your iPhone a richer experience. Users can preview how their photos will look with a filter before using it by just tapping their screen, allowing for a quick comparison. Double-tapping the screen applies the filter to the photo.

Global Delight’s didn’t stop there. Filters such as Bulge, Swirl, Fish Eye, Pixilate (along with 5 others) have been added to Camera Plus Pro as well. The effects allow users to let their imagination run wild with photo editing without ever having to upload their photos to their computer. Swiping through the effects allows users to preview effects, and independent controls for white balance and touch exposure enable further customization. Adding filters and effects can be done right within Camera Plus Pro, which enables true iPhone photography from snapping the shot all the way to sharing it with the world.

The latest upgrade also has tweaked some of the existing features, including:

  • White Balance Lock for color correction for both photos and videos
  • Grid Lines for Burst mode and Video Mode (previously available only for normal photo capture mode)
  • De-cluttered capture screen – the icons such as WB lock, zoom slider and flash get hidden if the screen is left untouched for 6 seconds just like your stock camera)

While Camera Plus Pro is available for the new iPod Touch, iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4, the new photo filters are not available for the iPhone 3G due to technical limitations on the device. The app has support for six languages as well.

In addition to this upgrade, Global Delight has announced an iPhone photography contest titled Metamorphosis that gives users a chance to win an iPad 2. Users are required to capture photos and transform them into beautiful creations using Camera Plus Pro’s new filters. The top entries will get a chance to fight it out for the grand prize, an iPad 2. There are a ton of other prizes, including an iPod Touch and iPod Shuffles, as well as daily prizes for Twitter and Facebook followers. Metamorphosis is open for submissions from May 12 to May 22, and contest details are available the Global Delight website.

Camera Plus Pro is $1.99 and available for download from the iTunes App Store. It’s a free upgrade to all existing users.
