Back in August, we reported that BSkyB (Sky) had released an updated Sky+ iPad app, bringing remote control features, the ability to record, edit and delete recordings on Sky+ boxes and a slew of other updates.
Now, however, Sky has brought these features to the iPhone app too, letting users swipe side-to-side to rewind and fast forward; tap to pause and play; or swipe up-and-down to change channels. Alternatively, if you know the channel number you’re looking for, you can type it in.
In addition to this, subsribers now also have access to the recording Planner feature, which lets them view shows by genre, add a series link and delete programmes they don’t want.
The new TV Guide lets you Scroll through seven day listings to record a show or the entire series, as well as receive reminders.
The Sky+ app for Apple’s smaller screen devices also comes with a couple of other updates, including the ability to search for programmes in the TV listings as well as the Planner, and improved navigation.
So, good news for iPhone and iPod Touch users, but the Android incarnation is still lacking these key features. This is similar to Virgin’s TV Anywhere which launched last week to rival Sky Go – Virgin lets users tap the iOS app to control their TiVo box in the home, but no sign of an Android alternative as of yet.
The updated Sky+ iOS app is available to download now.
