Next month’s British royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is set to be available as a video download on iTunes on the day it takes place.
The Associated Press reports that Decca Records will make the entire ceremony available on platforms including iTunes immediately following the service in London’s Westminster Abbey. Speaking to Reuters, David Joseph, chairman and CEO of Decca’s parent company Universal Music UK described the release as “The fastest we have ever released an album of this stature.”
It’s not clear whether this will be a video or audio offering (although the involvement of a record label suggests the latter), but it shows how technology is being harnessed to take maximum advantage of interest in what’s likely to be the biggest British royal wedding since Charles and Diana tied the knot thirty years ago.
It was recently announced that the wedding’s official website is being hosted by Google’s App Engine platform
