Cloud-storage service Box announced its new portal for non-profit customers Box.org. The new initiative offers free and discounted subscriptions to Box’s cloud service.
For non-profit organizations with 10 or fewer users, the $5 starter package is free. For organizations that require more than 10 licenses, there is 50-percent discount off the Box list prices. The organizations must be a 501(c)(3) or equivalent to qualify for the free and discount pricing.
According to 2013 IRS data, there are 1.8 million registered non-profits with fewer than seven people on staff. These organizations could benefit from the service and its ability to share documents across multiple devices and users. And the price is right.
“There is enormous potential for innovation in the nonprofit sector, but 87 percent of these organizations today are without a dedicated IT department, and most are strapped for resources,” said Head of Box.org. Karen Appleton.
Non-profits interested in discounted and free Box subscriptions can sign up at Box.org.
Box is reported to have delayed a rumored IPO until sometime next month on the heels of tech stocks taking a beating in the market. A date for the IPO has not been officially set.
