BlackBerry today announced it has struck deals with 12 OEMs to preinstall BBM for Android on their smartphones starting next month. Unsurprisingly, no deal was announced regarding BBM for iOS given that Apple controls what comes preinstalled on its devices.
While none of the smartphone makers are big names such as Samsung, HTC, Motorola, or LG, they do have a pull in their respective regions: Be, Brightstar, Celkon, EVERCOSS, IMO, Micromax, Mito, Snexian, Spice, TECNO, TiPhone, and Zen are all onboard. The Android smartphones will be sold across Africa, India, Indonesia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
