The first ever Bizcamp Tel Aviv competition kicks off today and UK entrants have the chance to win a trip to Israel to learn how the country earned the nickname “Startup Nation“.
Organised by the city of Tel Aviv, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The Next Web, Bizcamp’s program will run from October 14-24 and will encompass a schedule of meetings and workshops with successful startups in the country as well as the opportunity to talk to entrepreneurs and tech investors.
There will also be a number of seminars as part of the Bizcamp itinerary, topics include strategy formation, financing models, intellectual property and pitching. Bizcampers will also win exclusive “access all areas” visits to R&D centres in Tel Aviv, such as the Google Incubator, Microsoft Accelerator and the eBay Social Centre.
For the lucky winner, flights, accommodation and free entry to the three-day DLD Festival in Tel Aviv are included in the prize. There is also plenty of time built into the schedule for the winner to experience everything Israel has to offer, from the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, to the nightclubs and beaches of Tel Aviv.
H.E. Daniel Taub, Israeli Ambassador to the UK and competition judge, said: “Israel is one of the most exciting places to launch a start-up, and Tel Aviv is at the forefront of the global trend for innovative web and media technology. Bizcamp is a wonderful way to share this entrepreneurial spirit with enterprising individuals and companies here in the UK.”
The Ambassador will be joined on the judging panel by Debu Purkayastha, Google, Principal – New Business Development, Gilad Novik, CTO, small business investment specialist at Horizon Ventures and yours truly, so get a sharp presentation ready as competition will be fierce.
For a chance to win a place at Bizcamp Tel Aviv, all young UK tech entrepreneurs have to do is fill in the online entry form on the BizCamp Tel Aviv site.
Interested parties have until August 22 to apply and a panel of entrepreneurs, investors, journalists and statesmen will then select five UK finalists to take part in a live Grand Final event on 3rd September.
Entrants must be aged between 23 and 30 and be available to travel between 14th and 24th October 2012.
