Link shortening service Bitly has released a new bookmarklet in beta that not only customizes links but also expresses how you feel about the content.
Once installed, Bitly for Feelings lets you pick your feeling when shortening a link. For instance, if I like the content, I can use the upvot.es or luvit.me domains, but if the link points to something I dislike, I can use loath.es or oppos.es.
The new bookmarklet adds some fun style to the less-than-exciting business of link shortening. I can imagine using it for the occasional tweet, but don’t see myself taking the extra step very often.
Bitly has experienced some executive turnover lately, with Chief Scientist Hilary Mason and SVP of Engineers Peter Miron leaving to pursue other opportunities. Mason does, however, remain at the company in a “strategic capacity“.
