Atlassian has added a few features to BitBucket, which now lets developers search for code snippets and use modifiers to narrow the results.
Developers maintaining large codebases often have multiple repos with an ungodly amount of code. Via the early access program, Bitbucket users will be able to type in a simple search query.
If the search function returns too many results, you can use modifiers like repo: or project: to narrow the field. You can also search by language (lang:) or file extension (ext:).
Additionally, you can use terms like ‘AND’ or ‘NOT’ to whittle it down even further. Using a search for ‘Bitbucket repo:Game AND lang:Swift’ would help get you on the right path.
It’s a pretty small addition to Bitbucket, but could have a massive effect on how fast issues are handled. It should also help remote teams work more cohesively, something Atlassian is keen on.
