Become the next Edward Snowden: Booz Allen is hiring a Hawaii-based Systems Administrator

Booz Allen Hamilton, the former workplace of PRISM whistleblower Edward Snowden, has posted a listing on its careers page announcing an opening for a junior-level Systems Administrator, based out of Honolulu.

The title appears to be a less senior version of the role that was held by Snowden, who left the firm on medical leave before leaking details of PRISM to the media.

According to the job description, the employee will “[s]upport current information security technology disciplines and practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of corporate information assets in accordance with established standards and procedures.”

Under a section labeled “Clearance,” the listing states “Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.” Booz Allen Hamilton is unlikely to take this portion of the application lightly.

The listing does not reveal anything related to compensation. According to reports, Snowden was earning an annual salary of $200,000 during the time of his employment.

It’s worth noting that, on June 9 — in the aftermath of the initial PRISM reports — Booz Allen Hamilton issued the following statement on Snowden:

Booz Allen can confirm that Edward Snowden, 29, has been an employee of our firm for less than 3 months, assigned to a team in Hawaii. News reports that this individual has claimed to have leaked classified information are shocking, and if accurate, this action represents a grave violation of the code of conduct and core values of our firm. We will work closely with our clients and authorities in their investigation of this matter.

The existence of a job listing in conjunction with this statement indicates that while Booz Allen Hamilton has acknowledged its relationship with Snowden and the controversial PRISM program, they’re looking to move forward with the project all the same. Snowden admitted his biggest fear is that nothing will change as a result of his leaks and, for Booz Allen at least, it appears to be business as usual.

So, if you’re interested in living “unfreely but comfortably” in Honolulu to the tune of $200,000pa (perhaps in time), head over to Booz Allen Hamilton’s career’s page and submit your resume!
