BBC has just launched the new look of its Arabic portal. The move supposedly marks BBC’s serious attitude towards its online presence in the Arab world.
The portal looks more slick and is a modest attempt at embracing the web 2.0 functionalities. It’s disappointing though that BBC has not attempted to change their typeface from the default Arial (Arabic Transparent) into a screen-optimized font like Tahoma, for example.
From a functional perspective, the website is more self-contained and visually organized. It is good news for the Arab world as it appears that BBC is going to be investing in a lot of Arabic content to keep this website fresh.
