The BBC has upgraded Playlister, its service for bookmarking and exporting tracks broadcast through its daily programming, to include television shows on the desktop version of BBC iPlayer.
So whether you’re watching a Genesis documentary or the latest instalment of Strictly Come Dancing, you can hit the Playlister button, identify the track and save it to your collection. As before, you can then review your mixtape on the Playlister site and export it to Spotify, Deezer, YouTube or iTunes.
The BBC says over 10 million tracks have been added using Playlister over the last 12 months, which has encouraged the company to expand and rework the service. BBC Music, the umbrella site which Playlister is located under, has been improved with a responsive design and a feed of personalised recommendations. These are based on your actions in Playlister and updated artist pages now include concert dates sourced from live music service Songkick.
In addition, BBC Playlister now offers a deeper set of curated playlists created by BBC presenters, as well as those generated around specific programmes and events. These will be available both on the BBC Playlister site and through its connected third-party music services, such as Spotify.
