Avatar Kinect for Xbox reportedly launching July 27th

Avatar Kinect for Xbox reportedly launching July 27th

According to sources speaking with WinRumors, Avatar Kinect for the Xbox will be released on July 27th.

This is, however, not the first rumor that we have heard about the release of Avatar Kinect. The last time we went round the shrub with the topic was with a potential launch date of May 24th. That prediction was obviously mistaken.

Avatar Kinect will be a part of Kinect Fun Labs, something that Microsoft released this year at CES. From our previous coverage:

Microsoft calls Avatar a “social experience.” With Avatar, you have, like in the movie, a character that you animate with your body, giving you the ability to interact with other people using the same software. You can even host meetings with the capability, bringing new functions and possibilities to the traditionally gaming-centered console.

Avatar Kinect is an example of how Microsoft intends to use the Kinect to create new, and unique experiences on the Xbox 360, pushing its current market lead over the Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. The Xbox 360 has been the best-selling console for the last six months. The Kinect is itself the fastest selling consumer gadget of all time.

If you have not seen Avatar Kinect in action, the following clip is a bootleg of the product demonstration that Microsoft gave at CES:
